Favicons, short for “Favorites Icons” is an icon image now included on many websites.

The Favicon first appeared in the “Address Bar” and “Favorites Folder” of Internet Explorer and is now used by most web browsers. Each web browser uses the Favicon in different ways.

Some search engines look for a file “favicon.ico” and when it’s not there a response code 404 is reported in your access log.

If you add our website to your “Favorites” our Favicon will appear in your address bar when you return to our home page.

If you right click your mouse on our web page you can create a shortcut to us on your desktop. The shortcut will display our icon .

Favicons have no direct impact on search engine optimization or a page’s ranking in search results. However, Google does display a website’s favicon when showing a page in mobile search results.

They are normally expected to represent the Logo of the website.

We find it useful when editing a number of websites for each to have a different favicon
